My role at Würth as a programmer in the international IT development team involved rewriting the ERP systems for 100 global branches.

The entire development process was based on UML models and in 2001 was a finalist for the worldwide Best MDA Architecture prize (PR Newswire, LTT.DE).

The award was presented in London by representatives of the OMG (Object Management Group, the creators of the UML language).

The system was engineered around a proprietary declarative programming language custom-built for business software.

The server features decoupled, event-driven modules, allowing seamless integration or replacement of components.

The core components included:

• Multithreaded Network Server listening on LAN and WAN


• Business Logic Module


• 3-Tier Database Layer

The client required a high-performance software server to process between 500,000 and one million daily records, to be published on the website.

The outcome delivered significantly optimized processing and web page rendering times, more than doubling the speed compared to the previous website.

Client and server modules are decoupled via APIs, while the core technologies (HTML, JS, Java, and C#) communicate through a proprietary lightweight network protocol.
